HI

use command SAM from terminal and navigate to users and group, there you can change UID and GID

take a backup of /etc/password before doing it in case if any thing goes wrong.

Hi Paul,

You may need to edit the /etc/passwd and /etc/groups files on the development or quality to synchronize the UID and GUID.

Make sure UID and GUID are unique and being used by users related to SAP system only.

Hope this helps.

Hi Deepak,

Thanks for the reply.

Could you please tell is there any command to change the UID and GID , as i have found certain links saying it is not recommended to change these files manualy .

Also after changing the entries in group and passwd file we need to change the owners and group throughout the system to update the ownership and group of SAP directories.Do we have any script or command to do this in one go?

Regards

Hi Paul,

I am not a unix expert. May be OS admin at your site could help you out with the scripts as well as appropriately modifying the /etc/passwd and /etc/groups files .
