SUM tool Unable to identify modified Software Components

I am not sure how many of them has the similar problem when you try to Upgrade the Portal Landscape from Netwaver 7.01 to 7.31 in which systems are under NWDI Control.

During upgrade SUM tool identifies system whether it is under NWDI control and type of the system ( Like Dev, test or production). During development upgrade, it understood and did not deploy the modified software components as it wants us to modify them in NWDI and re-deploy it.

But when it comes to test/production phase, it will look for system type and it will try to read the modified software compnents from the inbox directory. We placed the SCA files from NWDI to Inbox directory, but SUM tool erroring out with the following log.

We are in a catch 22 situation and not able to proceed further with the upgrade. If anyone has experince working with this upgrade with NWDI systems, let us know if the procedure we are following is correct.

This can be resolved, by giving modified package for ESS and SAPPCGUI.

First check if main component SAPPCGUI/SAP_ESS are installed on system or not..

If not then first deploy the same, regenerate stack file.

If yes then please follow the below step.

1) create new track in NWDI, add ESS component(after placing ESS latest release package to CMS folder)

2) Check in and import in developement and consolidation tab.

3) Download the SCA from consolidation tab and place it in EPS/IN and SUM download directory folder.

same steps can be done for SAPPCGUI component to obtain the modified package.
