J2EE engine view not showing up the server

hi,

I have enter message server host and message server port in the J2EE engine settings in Windows->preferences. With this done, I expected that J2EE engine view of NWDS would show up the server I entered in Windows->Preferences->J2EE Engine. But it is not showing up.

I am able to access the same server with same port using a browser. So connectivity is not any issue here. Would some one know what is causing the server to not show up in the J2EE engine view.

thank you !

Hi,

the correct message server port can be seen under:

http://<host>:<port>/monitoring/SystemInfo

(administrator rights are needed)

There is a section similar to this:

  Message Server

Host: <MS host name>

Port: <MS port>

Since this port is different than the HTTP port, it is possible that you have access to the HTTP port

of the server but not for the message server port. Please try to connect to this port from your computer using the following command line:

telnet <MS host> <MS port>

If you get "Connection failed" then you have no access to this port.

Hello Roshan,

I hope you are trying the port number from http://<hostname>:<PortNo.>/irj/portal.

This is not the Message server port.

Contact your basis team who may provide you with right Message server port.

Thanks,

Yusuf.

check if you need to set proxy for your nwds.

check if there is any firewall between your machine and the server

hi,

guess there is no firewall between my machine and the server as I am able to access it using the browser.

How to check whether I need to set proxy for NWDS ?

thank you !

hi.

I just tried with another server's message server host and message server port number and now the server is shown up with green nodes in J2EE engine view.

I came to know that the earlier server that I was trying with did not have NWDI installed.

Could that be a reason of the J2EE engine not showing up the server.

thank you !
