Hi Prasad,

Ya you are right that ABAP 2+exp ->XI. Usually said that no matter from which platform you are coming, you have to put effort for it. Both the combination is beneficial. As I have already mentioned in my earlier reply that having knopwledge of ABAP will save ur time from understanding various R/3 related terms such as RFC,IDOC,various transactions and many other things and to know better about ABAP stack.

Having knowledge of JAVA will help you in mapping, in creating user defined functions, J2EE engine and JAVA stack. After beginning steps you will come to know that JAVA is getting more fucussed in XI as you will go in deep.

If having knowledge of ABAP then shift to XI, learn it and wlong with it also start learning JAVA, that will help you a lot.

Reward pionts if helpful.....

Hi All

It is very good XI with ABAP + JAVA but my question is

--- If any one want to shift form ABAP 2+ exp to XI ?

then how the carrier and Job opportunities

--- If any one want to shift from JAVA 2+ exp to XI

then how the carrier and Job opportunities

I feel first one is much better than the Second ?(Just opinion)

What you will say according to you exp ?

prasad,

let me give an example i have seen people whose came from MAINFRAMES to XI and they are leading teams and and acting as arch roles.

all depends how much effort you put once your in that field.it does not matter whether you come ABAP or JAVA or TESTING it just gives you cushion i have JAVA into XI who can work on IDOC's better than ABAP resources.

HI Prasad,

i think if you have background of ABAP and having knowledge of JAVA core then

it will be great...

Generally in SAP XI java is essential .. for eg. in Mapping some times we need to create user defined function in java.

when we handling a scenerio where JMS adapder is using then Java knowledge is a plus thing.

Hi prasad,

It is better to have knowledge on both ABAP and JAVA for SAP XI.

Why ABAPers

Because They have good idea on SAP related objects and How data moves from SAP to SAP/non-SAP. They have good idea on SAP interfaces like RFC,IDoc,ABAP proxies. In most of the cases SAP-XI used to integrate with SAP system. So it is important.

Why java.

Mapping is important criteria in the Integration. Some times we need to create user defined functions, Module programing to achieve specific functionality to adapters. So it is also important.

Hi Prasad,

For starting carrer in XI....It would be good if you have java knowledge..becase we need to use core java sometimes in mapping.

Even if you have abap background you can manage.

But preferrable XI with Java----as my per as my suggestion.

Hope I am clear.

Please let me know if you have any queries..!

Hi Chandu

I will agree with you but here problem is Job sake frankly

i.e In case of Job ABAP is much much better and he had lot of demand

in my company i have seen most of them in XI are ABAP rather Java !!

Come to carrer point <u><b>2+ Java or 2+ ABAP</b></u> ,which is better for

SAP XI project ? thing is he can work on ABAP as well XI but what about

Java guy ? Only XI ....

If i am wrong pl..correct me

Hi Prasad,

As you said is correct.....i will agree with you.

According to my experience in XI I would prefer a Java guy rather Insteadof saying ABAP.

If we talk about jab point of view...the company will prefer 2 years of ABAP+XI..because they think that if we did not get any xi project we can give him chance to work on ABAP.

If you are looking about job perspective 2 years ABAP+XI is best thing.

Hope I clear prasad.

Please let me know if you have any queries..!

Thanks and Regards,

Chandu.
