We are upgrading the SAP ERP 6.0 system from source release EHP5 to target release EHP6 using NZDM facility provided in SUM tool SP07. Currently we are at SHADOW_IMPORT_INC phase in preprocessing stage of upgrade. Upgrade is stucked at this phase from 3rd May, 2013. Last log was written on 12:24 PM on 3rd May, 2013.

Below are the details of infrastructure:

Operating System: Windows 2008 64 bit

Database: Oracle

SUM tool version: 1.0 SP07

Total Ram: 8 GB

CPU: 2 core

Source release: ERP 6.0 EHP 5

Target release: ERP 6.0 EHP 6

As per scn link : As per scn link -> http://scn.sap.com/thread/1834278

i have already tried incresing parallel import processes to 4 in SHDALLIMP profile and DEFAULT profiles existing in SUM/abap/var directory, however this did not helped.

Please let us know how can we speed up the SHADOW_IMPORT_INC phase.

Hi!

Which Oracle Version are you running Upgrade on?

Maybe SAP Note

1635605

is the one for you. Just enter the DB-Parameter

_use_zero_copy_io=false

restart your DB, restart SUM and so the SHADOW_IMPORT_INC Phase.

Hi Mark,

I am running upgrade on oracle version 11.2.0.2.

I have moved forward as per your suggestions and will post the results further.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Alex,

Your suggestions worked for me.

There is a bug in oracle with patch lower than 14 for windows, due to which R3trans processes hang in shadow_import_inc process. Sap Note 1635605 refers to same.

Good luck for the future.

Abhishek Kalra

You didn't mention your Oracle release.. Perhaps you can have a look at Note 983548 - Long runtimes during SAP Upgrade using Oracle 10
