Hi all,
I am an abapper. I would like to shift to a new technology, I do not know Java, got some 2 yrs experience in ABAP. I would like to learn either EP, XI, or BI/BW. Please advise me on which would be better for me.
Please help me figure out..

Hi,
AS you mentioned you do not have java experience...it is better you can prefer BW instead of XI or EP.
For comming to XI...you mus know core java.
For Comming EP...you must have good knowledge on java.
I would adivse to go to BW..If are eager to learn java then go for xi.
Hope I am clear.
Please let me know if you have any queries.,..!
Thanks and Regards,
Chandu.

Hi
I feel XI or BW/BI will be very good because you have ABAP exp
But coming to EP ...Sure that you need to Java/j2ee Strong exp required
For XI case java is not must but if you have sure it will be advantage
At present as per market, many compinies are asking ABAP + XI exp
on this openings are really good
Same thing with ABAP + BW/BI also but i not very sure on this
just check with friends or SDN
But in the last option EP , you can work on adimn but development sure they
will expect the Java/J2ee exp........better not to depend on this Risk
I hope this will anaser you question

Hi,
Having knowledge of ABAP will be plus point for you when you come Netweaver, coz you will be aware of many things used here such as RFC,IDOC and many more things. Usually career consultants prefer XI for ABAPer so do I. In XI we require knowledge of programming language either of JAVA or ABAP for mapping. But JAVA is always preferrable instead of ABAP for XI. Although it will provide you an added advantage while learning few terms in XI.

EP would require Java background. BI/BW can be good option for ABAPers but as a concept it is bit different. but u could leverage ur functional knowledge in BI as well as XI.
so according to me BI should be ur preference 1 then XI and then EP.
