Hi,
>>> i guess this blog explains steps for single stack only??
this is guide for >= 7.31 and a recommended approach for future alerting
>>>2 --> Also if my queue(smq2/smq1) stucks / fails, will i get alert mail???
for this one you have CCMS alerts which you can set on ABAP stack
>>>>3 --> What is difference between ALRTCATDEF and setting ALERTRULE in ID.

Hi,

just type ccms monitoring smq1 in google and you will find many from help.sap.com
>>>sxmb_moni.....adapter errors....communication channels stop/start....Do i need to use CCMS for all such kind of errors???
for those normal ALERTS will work just fine
>>> then wat kind of errors do ALRTCATDEF and ALERTRULE in ID gives????
ALRTCATDEF - you can find the names in RWB - alert definition
ALERTRULE - those (names) you can find in ID
both are pretty self descriptive I believe,
