PA Initialisation

When I CIF across a new product to APO and use it for the first time in SNP interactive planning I get error /SAPAPO/TSM207, because of missing time series objects.

(a)The SAP recommendation in the error help text suggests to either re initialise the planning area, or to use pgm /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_PLOB_DELTA_SYNC.

The use of /SAPAPO/TS_CONS_CHECK in the repair mode solves the Problem.

My question is … when SAP help is asking to run  /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_PLOB_DELTA_SYNC – then why running /SAPAPO/TS_CONS_CHECK solves the problem ? how these two programs are same or different ?

(b) What exactly is /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_PLOB_DELTA_SYNC designed to do?

(c)  Articles in SAP SCM 7.0 help – “Maintaining SNP Master Data and Time Series”  talks only about --  Delta Initialization of Planning Areas(/SAPAPO/TSINIT) , Reorganising SNP TS (/SAPAPO/TS_LCM_REORG_SNP.) and  Consistency Check for SNP Time Series Network (/SAPAPO/TSCONS)  -- so /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_PLOB_DELTA_SYNC should be run or not ?

If yes – then does it has any impact on existing Data in PA ?

(d) Delta Initialization of Planning Areas(/SAPAPO/TSINIT)   -- should have ‘Delta Initialization’ check box – but I do not see it in system. Do you see ?   Is it same as /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_PLOB_DELTA_SYNC ?

(e) Also, pls state the best practices for PA initialization (Rolling Horizon)

Thanks. Pls do not post SAP help links as it is and answer specific queries above.

Hi,

  • Report /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_PLOB_DELTA_SYNC - This report helps in creating/updating the required time series when you add new or update existing characteristics value combinations (CVC). For instance, if you forget to select option 'Create TimeSeries' while creating the CVC using t.code /SAPAPO/MC62 this report is used.
    • As you aware, the planning area has key figures and time periods with version dependent data mainly stored in liveCache. The CVC (plob id) of your planning object structure must point to this liveCache time series (key figure data) and this relationship is represented by liveCache anchor. This utility program helps in creating or updating these anchors.
  • Report /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_CONS_CHECK (t.code /SAPAPO/TSCONS) - This report can be used by both DP and SNP. It helps to repair the inconsistencies between APO database and liveCache.
  • Report /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_REORG - It helps in determining the time series that do not have liveCache anchors (for all planning areas) and deletes them if 'Repair' option is selected.
  • Report (/SAPAPO/TS_LCM_REORG_SNP same as /sapapo/ts_lcm_reorg but applicable to SNP and allows you to restrict the reorganization to planning area and planning version.
  • Report /SAPAPO/TS_PAREA_INITIALIZE (t.code /SAPAPO/TSINIT) - This report helps in extending the time series on rolling period basis.
    • If there are changes in the master data, it is recommended to run consistency check t.code /SAPAPO/TSCONS
  • For addtional details, pl check the following SAP note.

Note 425825 - Consistency checks, /sapapo/om17, /sapapo/cif_deltareport

Answers to your queries:

a & b.  /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_PLOB_DELTA_SYNC predominantly used by DP to create time series when new CVCs are added whereas /SAPAPO/TS_CONS_CHECK attempts to correct the differences between liveCache and APO database.

c. Reorg report allows to delete the time series from liveCache that are not associated with liveCache anchors.

d & e. t.code /sapapo/tsinit helps to extend the timeseries and it is recommended to schedule a job to execute this program periodically instead of creating the time series at once and consume more hardware resources.

Thanks,
Rajesh
