Hi Shravan,

You can install SAP ECC6.0 IDES Version with MAXDB Database on the following Linux Operating Systems:

1) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5/6 (Architectures: IA64, Power, x86_64)

2) SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (Architectures: IA64, Power, x86_64)

My IDES ECC6 EHp6 is running on Oracle - SuSe 11 x86_64.

For details you must check PAM here => https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==%29/support/pam/pam.html?smpsrv=https%3A%2F%2Fwebs...

Hi

Thanks for the replay. we are planing to installing it on centos or ubuntu. because we are not installing oracle as a db. i know oracle performance is nice in linux .  so that's why u didn't get any problems . when we installing maxdb as db on Suse Linux it will give some problems. performance is very slow. i read this info from a blog long back. what is ur suggestion?

regards

Hi Shravan,

I suggest you to install centos OS because is a clone of red hat linux.

I've installed many sap products on red hat and all were fine.

I recommend to read the document that will guide you at installation

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-15862

Cheers

Hi Shravan,

Before start a new sap installation you must checking sap product compatibility at PAM ( Product Availability Matrix ) :http://service.sap.com/sap/support/pam

There you can check all supported OS that are allowed to sap product.

As far as I know somebody installed sap products at OS linux open source releases but sap will not support in case of failure/incidence .

By the way check it out this document will help you: http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-15862

Cheers
