share same trans_dir

Dear all,

I have installed two system DEV and QAS. The DEV was installed locally and QAS on the domain. All are running on windows 2008 R2 Standar with MS SQL 2005.

Now I need to share the same transport directory and what I did was:

1. Join DEV to the domain

2. Add the SAPServceSDV, sdvadm to the domain SAP_LocalAdmin, SAP_SQA_LocalAdmin Group and the GlobalAdmin groups.

3. I mapped the directory to the QAS server and i can access using the QAS user.

can some one tell me what do I need to to in concrete.

I have some ideas from some readings around like change parameters to DIR_TRANS and SAPTRANSHOST and also go to STMS and change the value of the TRANSDIR to the \\DEV\sapmnt\trans but still not ok because when check the transport directory groups (bin, buffer, cofiles and data) they still pointing to \\QAS\sapmnt\trans

Can some one help me please.

nelson\

Hi Nelson,

to have a common transport host, we need to have all the system in the same domain right? Because you have maintained all the parameters setting both in profiles  as well as stms transport tool parameter tab. but still its not working means.. just check that one and keep me updated .

Dear Karthikeyan,

Yes all the system are on the same domain now. My question is do I have to add this line manually on the profile file?

Hi Nelson,

Goto RZ10, select your default profile and add DIR_TRANS, in value put the common transport directory DIR_TRANS = \\$(SAPGLOBALHOST)\sapmnt\trans (
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/3d/ad5dbf4ebc11d182bf0000e829fbfe/content.htm)

and restart the server to take effect.

If your system is not up, browse to the location and open file in notepad and edit it there......

Yes Nelson,

you can give that, but its advisable to provide the parameter value as per the sap standard, so first add parameter sapglobalhost in the startup profile and then assign DIR_TRANS in instance profile as per the SAP standard and do let us know the results.

Hi Nelson,

You dev is the sap global host right , in that case you can set the value as sapglobalhost = name of the dev server.

Dear Nelson,

You have mention the globalhost in each of your system, in start profile. whereas the DIR_TRANS should be in the instance profile.

Hi dear Atul,

The problem is solved, i deleted the domain and added the domain of the DEV server using the client 000 on the QAS server. After that I succed to transport from DEV to QAS and everything is working fine now.

Thanks for the lights

Hi Nelson,

You have to change the profile parameter DIR_TRANS and restart the

instance. Make sure parameter DIR_TRANS is pointing to the same

transport directory for all the systems that share the same transport

group. The TRANSDIR parameter of the STMS tp profile is only used if one

calls the tp direct from OS level. Please review the following notes:

   62739 - Configuring a central transport host;

  814639 - Transport requests disappear from the buffer;

Thank You.
