BO4 - Business security profiles

Hi,

Can use data security profiels in BO4 fine to implement data level security.

Using BO4 SP5.

Having problem with business security prfoile.

We have one business layer and would like to show a partiuclar group of users that business layer minus a few objects.

Woudl ideally wnat just use one business layer rather than create separate business layer enrtirely.

Have tried set this up in bo4 but users still see all business layer objects when want to create query.

Any ideas?

Hi Philip,

For this You need to check with Object level security instead of Security profile.

This could be very long-winded if have to change each object individually as by default they would wnat to have access to 95% of the objects.

What is business security pfofile intended for?

Absolutely Philip. Thats the reason why Object level security is not widely used.

Security profile is intended for having a unified semantic layer on top of which you can restrict user either based on DB connection, Table rows, Table Columns, SQl Parameters.

Please the parameters used in Security profiles will be same as that of the Universe parameters.

If you don't have Business Layer Views which already filter the number of objects, you can grant Master View (all objects) and deny the classes and objects which you want to hide.

Will either create business layer views so just have one business layer but different views of it or filter the master business layer as advised.
