Hello,
I have Microsoft SQL Management Studio installed on my local machine; up to this point I have never had an issue with the Studio or the network configuration. However, after my computer ran the scheduled IT update earlier this week, I can no longer access my instance. When I open the studio and try to connect, I get the following error:
"A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (Provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 10054) "
When I attempt to connect again I get a very similar message:
"A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (Provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 64) "
I have tried countless solutions but none have resolved the issue. Has anyone seen this issue before who can offer some insight as to how to fix it?
I truly appreciate your assistance with this matter.
Best,
John Basile
Hi,
you have to run the Management Studio elevated, so rightclick on it and then "run as administrator".

You sure its an update and not a port issue? Is the server located on the same network segment as your computer?

Hi John,
It maybe necessary to recreate the authorizations for your <sid>adm user.
Use user Administrator and refer to note 1294762 (schema repair script).
