Hi Gurus,
Can we install two instance such as DEV and QAS or PRD on one server? can any one please provide the necessary steps and how to give instance number for each one of them.
Thanks & Regards
anil
Hi Anil,
What ever it may be the steps are same. If you want to install DEV and QAS in Windows / SQL server environment means.
Install DEV with the Instance number 00. Fallow the usual installation procedure what you have done before.
After completion of DEV Instance, For installing second instance QAS, You have to start from SQL installation again. While installing SQL Db Second time for QAS, Select named instance option and give named instance as QAS and then fallow the usual steps.
While installing SAP for QAS at the phase of DB selection you can find two Db's DEV and QAS, Select QAS and continue, At the phase of instance number you can give 01 or 02 what ever you want except what you have given already to DEV.
Fallow common steps and Prerequisites provided by SAP. Rest all the things are same.
I hope it will help you.

Hi Anil,
We can install multiple instance in a single system but we required well configured system to manage these instances together in a single system. For security and performance kind of things we have to keep PRD in separate.
we have to install a separate Database to each SID's, and rest all the steps will be the same as like mentioned above by Deepak Kori.
If it is a dual Stack then the instance number will be 00, 01 for DEV and 02, 03 for QAS.

Hi Anil,
You may install DEV and QAS on single machine. PRD is recommended to have it on separate machine.
Installation process is same. You need to install DEV first and then QAS.
Each system will have different Database and SAP SIDs. Location for datafiles and sap binaries should be kept different to avoid confusions.
Instance number has to be separate. for eg: DEV can be 01 and QAS can be 02.
Hope this helps.

Deepak Kori
