TMS setup in high availability

Hi everyone,

I am trying to setup TSM in HA environment according to OSS note 943334, but I am have a challenge. Our QA and production environment are similar and we use the same sysno. For this reason, sapmsSID in the host file reflects the current instance and I am not able to apply the necessary configuration as  the RFC fails. Is there a work around for this issue?

Not sure if I correctly understood your requirement.

Why should the same sysno be a problem?

What is preventing you from having two entries in your services file, like these:

sapmsPRD 3600/tcp

sapmsQAS 3600/tcp

Hi Joe

Can I use the same port for 2 different message servers? Would this cause a problem? It will difintly solve the problem.

You may have as many names for the same port as you like.

But of course you cannot use the same port for two systems, if they are running on the same host.

Hi Joe

I added sapms for both QA and PROD to all host files and I still got the error below. Any help?

As you can see from the error messages, besides services you also need correct hosts.

I gather that in your case axeapsapvcc is the hostname, and npr.bngf.local is the domain.

So make sure that both axeapsapvcc and axeapsapvcc.npr.bngf.local are known to the system.

I don't know your network configuration, but I suppose you have to maintain them in your hosts file.

Also make sure the host is reachable, for example that no firewall will block access.
