Avoid sapms<SID> entry in services file (Workbook links from BI Portal)

0 Kudos

Hi

This qustios is in relation to SAP BW and the corresponding portal.

We used to have a setup like this:

BWS = ABAP + JAVA

When we executed a report from the BI JAVA Portal which contained a link to BEx Analyzer Workbook then the workbook was executed fine in the BEx

Now we have performed a dual stack split and a HANA migration:

BWS = ABAP (but new application server installed as part of HANA migration)

BJS = JAVA (new NW AS JAVA server installed and content imported from old JAVA stack)

We didn't need to have a entry sapmsBWS entry in the etc/services file on each users PC before we did the dual stack split and HANA migration in order to execute BEx Analyzer reports from the BI portal.

Now after the dual stack split and HANA migration I can only get the BEx analyzer reports to execute properly if I add a sapmsBWS entry in the etc/services file. I get a error when Excel start the BEx Analyzer plugin unless I have the sapmsBWS entry in the etc/services file:

Thanks in advance, kr

Torben

Hi Torben,

I am not an expert in HANA, but probably feel that SAP might have changed some logic whereby it checks local /etc/services files for relevant message server entries.

Just a thought,

Can you update the sapms<SID> entries on both the servers BW and Portal. I mean

BW server should have sapms<SID> entries for BW as well as Portal. Same holds good for Portal server.

Check the results after this.
