Bin search in sequence problem

Former Member

Hi All,

we have 2 storage bin types as E1,E4. Bins 11, 17,18,23 are defined under bin type E1 and 15,25,35.. are defined under E4 there is only one storage section defined as 001.

Customer wants to put stock in sequence..which means after bin 11 , the stock should fill bin 15.

Is it possible this way as the bins are defined under different storage bin types ?

Regards,

Bhanu

Hello Bhanu,

For your warehouse and storage type, define "storage type search"

Then for required storage type, define "Storage Unit types"

FInally for individual storage unit type, define "storage bin types"

Now you can control your bin type search as per your storage type by maintaining storage type indicator in material master under "stock placement".

Also, select your put away strategy as next empty bin (L) in storage type definition.

Thanks,

Hi,

Yes it is possible to get the desired objective, but, ideally this should not be done.

You create different storage bin types based on some parameters (for. eg. bin height) to suit the different type of load carriers ( for e.g. pallets, etc) so, when you have a specific section for specific kinds of goods then why would you want to mix them? I think you should discuss the requirements clearly with Business customers.

Still, if customer want this to happen, then, proceed as follows -

1. The storage bins should belong to the same warehouse, storage type and storage section.

2. Maintain the storage bin type search. assign both your storage bin type E1 and E2 to the combination of warehouse and storage type.

3.If needed, define Sort Sequence for Putaways (Cross-line Stock Putaway) which will help in creation of the index of empty storage bins.

4. Assign putaway strategy as "L" next empty bin.

5. Test your settings in the development system.

There is sufficient help available for the above points in forums/google. ( just in case)

Hope this helps.

Sushant
