question about SOLMAN_SETUP System Prep Diagnostics & Host Agents installation

I have installed solution manager 7.1 SP8 for a solution manager sandbox and am working on SOLMAN_SETUP -> SYSTEM PREP -> Step 5.5 Prepare Outside Discovery. - install Diagnostics Agent and host Agent. 

Currently, I have ECC, CRM and BI systems However, only BI has Java instance. 

(1) I am wondering do I have to install the diagnostics agents in ECC and CRM if they only have ABAP instance?

(2) For Host Agent, I just need to install in my solution manager sand box. is it right?

I have read the note 1448655 but I am confused and please help. Thanks.

Hi,

    1. You have to install SAPHOSTAGENT even though the system is ABAP or JAVA.... If a box is containing several instances of ECC, BI,....etc, it is enough to install only one SAPHOSTAGENT.

2.  You have to install the Host agent in all the systems boxes where you want to get the data like OS details....

One agent per box is enough.

Hi,

1)You can install diag agent on all hosts.

2)Host agent(which is a part of diag agent) needs to be installed on all hosts, if you want to see OS data.
