Hi,

Now, my computer is installed CR basic (10.5) for VS2008 with CR framework (10.5) for VS2008 from http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-27942

I discovered having CR basic (12.x) and CR framework (12.x) there on web page http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-27917.

So, Am I possible to install CR basic (12.x) and and CR framework (12.x)  on one computer that was installed CR basic (10.5) and CR framework (10.5)

Thanks

Hello Francis

I think I know what you are asking... and essentially it is related to CR 2008 vs. Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008

Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 is version 10.5.x and those are the only files you can use - in development and at runtime. The file download links for Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 are documented here:

Crystal Reports for VS 2005 and VS 2008 Updates & Runtime Downloads

Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 was bundled for free with VS 2008.

Crystal Reports 2008 is of version 12.x. And again these would be the file version used in development as well as runtime. The file download links for Crystal Reports 2008 are documented here:

Crystal Reports 2008 (12.x) Updates & Runtime Downloads

Crystal Reports 2008 is an upgrade to Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 must be purchased.

Note that the two are not interchangeable. E.g.; if you develop using Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008, you can not use Crystal Reports 2008 runtime when deploying the app and vice versa.

As my understanding,

1) I must purchase CR 12.x for VS2008 before installing service pack

2) I can install both of CR 10.5 and CR 12.x on same computer

Is above right?

additional question, if I installed CR 10.5 and 12.x on same computer. In case of opening *.rpt from vs2008.

Which version of CR basic will opening it? (10.5/12.x)

If you purchase CR 2008, it should be on the latest SP already.

You can install both CR 10.5 and CR 2008 on the same computer

Re. which version will open the report. This is controlled by the references you make in your project. E.g.; if your references to the CR assemblies are for version 12.x, then version 12.x ( CR 2008) will open and run the reports. If your references to the CR assemblies are for version 10.5, then version 10.5 ( Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008) will open and run the reports.
