Is it required to do BI before I train myself in SAP HANA.
Hi Shalini,
Exposure on BI will definitely help you to learn HANA. Learn BI and then go for HANA so you will understand better.

Hi Shalini,
I think it would help you understand the basic concepts of Data Warehousing or Business Intelligence to be successful in the HANA world. Having the clear understanding of the BI concepts would always help. Although it is not mandatory and you can proceed with the relational concepts to work on HANA, since it is primarily meant to be used for Data warehousing applications as of now (leaving apart the ERP on HANA and related use cases), the understanding of BI / DW concepts will surely help.
Regards,
Ravi

No. I would however recommend familiarizing yourself with SQL. HANA is a relational database (and much more) after all. Search through SCN, there are plenty of posts, blogs, and documents that describe how/where to get started with HANA. I would say that a cloud instance would be the best place to start.
