All,
During the upgrade prompts, I entered what I thought to be the password
for DDIC. I thought when you hit 'Next', it validates what you entered. I
did not get any errors, it accepted what I entered.
Later, as the Shadow Instance got built (which copies the DDIC
user ID from the regular instance), I tried to log on just to watch the
activity. I entered DDIC and the password I had entered intiially used,
and it kept telling me the password was wrong. The user ID eventually
locked. I was able to unlock it....still could not log on ( it said
wrong password), so I reset it to waht I believed it to be and logged
in.....but now, the upgrade is trying to enter an incorrect password.
Severe error(s) occured in phase MAIN_SHDRUN/RUN_RSGENVIEWSTRUC!
Last error code set: RFC login to system PSM ashost LFTSMD nr 02 gwhost LFTSMD gwservice sapgw02 failed with code 2 key RFC_LOGON_FAILURE: Name or password is incorrect (repeat logon)
I would like to find a way to modify the control file and enter the
correct password....or some other way to get past this.
Any help would be apprecitaed!
Thanks,
Diana
Hello Diana,
The upgrade problems are treated at the software logistics space:
http://scn.sap.com/community/it-management/alm/software-logistics
After ensuring the corrrect password and the use is not locked, check with the connection (SM59) to the shadow instance has the correct username/password.

Eduardo,
Okay I found the RFC's:
SAP_UPGRADE_ORIG_SYSTEM
&
SAP_UPGRADE_SHADOW_SYSTEM
in theri respective systems. A 'connection test' and a 'remote logon' both test successfully. Yet, the error remains.

I figure it out. 😉
I loosely followed these instructions I found (for an older tool)
If you are using the Upgrade Assistant (I am using the Software Update Manager)
1. In the main menu of the Upgrade Assistant, choose Administrator Start SAPup with option .
To make the new password of user DDIC known to SAPup, enter the following command:
set DDICpwd (original system)
set shdDDICpwd (shadow system)
Hi All,
Even bringing back the DDIC password(reset password for 10 attempts, depending on ur system) and putting the same password in the RFC's has also worked for me.

Ravi
