Cluster MDM Server

Hi,

I came across a How-To guide on how to cluster MDM servers using MSCS (Microsoft Cluster Services) so that failover is supported. Do anyone know if it is possible to cluster MDM servers in other OS such as HP-UX and Solaris?

To my knowledge, smooth failover transitioning mechanism is not available in MDM.

A repository can be mounted and loaded in only one MDM server at a time.

So, when the MDM Server goes down, the loaded repository goes down.

Even when the MDM Server 1 transitions to MDM Server2, then you have to manually mount and load the repository.

Moreover, there is no load balancing concept in MDM Servers. Even if you have a cluster of MDM Servers, they all have to be in Wait mode.

The reason being, only one MDM Server can mount and load a particular repository at a given point of time.
