Restrict Access of NW 7.01 AS Java HTTP Port to specific IP address

Dear Expert,

I would like to define a HTTP Port on a NW 7.01 AS Java that is only accessible from one specific source IP address. Only that specific IP address should be able to access the AS Java via HTTP. All other clients should access the system via HTTPS.

I searched the SCN, Help and SAP Notes, but I could not find any useful information that it is even possible. I know that for NW7.3 AS Java it is possible, but that's not the version we got.

Do you know how to configure the HTTP port on a NW 7.01 AS Java to only accept calls from one source IP?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Dear Mark,

thanks a lot for your hint. unfortunately we do not have a web dispatcher in front of our AS Java. the ICM is not also available in the AS Java Release < 7.10.

Any other ideas?

Best Regards,

Fabian

Hi Fabian,

You can easily put a webdispatcher in front of your java system.

It will cost you very little effort and it also consumes little resources on your system.

This also brings in an advantage in case you are going to install java application servers.

Hi Mark,

we do not want to increase the complexity of our portal landscape. Because of the missing configuration options of NW 7.0x we decided to do a temporary workaround in modifying the login jsp until we have NW 7.3 installed. Login with http will hide the buttons.

It's not the safest option but at least it works.

Thanks for the help & best Regards,

Fabian

You can try to establish this via parameter icm/HTTP/redirect
