Hello!
We would like to set up central monitoring with Solution Manager 7.1 SP8 for several satellite systems.
In our scope are primarily the following functions:
1) automatic notification in case of important issues: availability of SAP system, Full Tablespace, failed DB backup
1) flexible alert notification (Mail daily, SMS at the night)
Which agents (CCMS, Diagnostics) and which procedure (CCMS/RZ20 or MAI) should we choose therefore?
Hi,
Here is a brief comparison;
There are lot of materials available in below link. I suggest you to go through them;

Hello!
Many thanks.
What is about the both requirements in our project?
1) automatic notification in case of important issues: availability of SAP system, Full Tablespace, failed DB backup
2) flexible alert notification (Mail daily, SMS at the night)
Does Diagnostic Agent completely replace SAPCCM4X Agent?
Yes, in the MAI scenario, no CCMS agents are needed anymore.
Only the SMD agents and host agents.
Both requirements can be covered by MAI.
1) You can decide per alert wether you would like to receive a notification.
2) With workmode configuration you can trigger different alert types at different times.
Hello!
Many thanks! Exactly such pregnant answers I have expected.
So if we decide to go for MAI we do not need CCMS agents anymore.
All the monitoring/alerting and notification functions will be covered by Diagnostic Agents (of course in case of monitoring of ABAP suites).
Does also the old CCMS-approach support the work mode feature?
So is it possible without the installation of Diagnostic Agents to support work mode feature and to decide which kind of notification (mail daily, sms at the night) should be chosen?
Thank you!
I would get rid of the CCMS agent, it doesn't add anything anymore.
The only scenario where you might want to keep it is if you create custom metrics that monitor specific custom created CCMS MTE classes.
But still, all the effort it takes to get that running can be put in creating new custom metrics to monitor tha same thing using MAI.
My suggestion, forget about CCMS completely.
SAP plans to do the same
