How to use Stock of Product-A at Source for Demand of Product-C at Destination in SNP ?

Dear Friends,

Refer the below image.

There is a business requirement where in Supersession Interchangeability is defined ( as "Full") for:-

Product-A & Product -B at Factory

Product-A & Product -B at Depot-1

Product-A & Product -C at Depot-2

Given:-

Stock : Product A at Factory = 15,000

Demand : Product B at Depot-1 = 5,000

Demand : Product C at Depot-2 = 6,000

How to ensure stock of Product A at Factory is used to satisfy demand of Product C at Depot-2 ...?

Thanks & Regards

Mahesh

Any of you had dealt with this business requirement friends ?

You need to include this IC group in a rule in RBATP.

This a source determination problem in the context of product availability in planning. !

Hi Borat Sagdiyev,

You meant to say that a substitution rule has to be created for the Product-Locations ?

If so could you kindly brief how this can be achieved.

Thank you

Hello Mahesh,

Please use supply use up in CTM. where system uses stock at location 1 even if demand is at location 2 and there is no stock at location 2. In this case, we need to have relevant master data (t. lanes etc) and t lane priority.

Supply use up is available as a standard functionality as of SCM 720 EHP 2.

Hello Ashutush,

But stock can exist not only at Factory, but also at Depot-1 & Depot-2. The net requirement for the depot should be calculated after netting the existing stock only. Can this still be possible ?

Also about 'supply use-up' in CTM, are you talking about Use-up Quantity in Interchangeability Master ?

Hi Mahesh,

If only SNP needs to be used, you need to setup interchangeability master data for depot locations i.e. B->A and C->A respectively. When you execute the heuristics, the system generates the substitution demand for product A (based on your useup strategy). If you maintain t.lanes between depot and factory locations, you can have distribution demand at factory for product A.

Thanks,

Hi Rajesh,

Thank you for you reply.

The problem is at Depot-2 which has Product-A & Product-C are part of Supersession chain.

When there's no stock of Product-A at Depot-2 but excess stock of Product-A at Factory, need  to make use of this stock for deploying to Depot-2 to satisfy the demand for Product-C at Depot-2.

Thanks & Regards

Hi Mahesh,

Try to maintain one more IC for C-->A at factory level. So, when there is no A is available at depot-2, it will create a substitution to C, but in factory it will change back to A.

Just a wild idea to try.

Hi Manimaran,

Thank you for your response.

It works well for demands of Depot-2.

Consider Depot-1 in this case.

When I maintained C<->A at Factory (apart from existing A<->B), when factory gets a demand for Product-C from Depot-1, substitution happens at factory & stock of Product-A is given to Depot-1 which is not desired as Depot-1 needs only Product-C.

Request your comments on this.

Mahesh

Hi Mahesh,

As per my understanding, the scenario, you are expecting will not work with SNP, but will work with Rule based ATP only.

Because in this case we need to subsitute location/products not simply products. For example, you want to subsitute C@depot2 with A@factory, but not sbstitute C@depot1 with A@factory. Location-product substitution is supported for ATP only not for planning.

Hi Manimaran,

Exactly the substitution should happen between location products, not just products.

Could you kindly brief the approach for achieving this rule-based substitution so that the requirement can be achieved through a CTM run.

Mahesh
