IDoc to XML without a XI server

We are trying to send material information to a third party software.  The method they want to use is to create an IDoc that will output a XML file that can be FTP'd to a location where the third party software can pick it up.  To setup the IDoc to XML portion, is a XI server required?  If not, can anyone give me instructions on doing this, or at least point me in the right direction?

Hi,

Please check below link to convert SAP Idoc into XML files and save the same in SAP server:

http://www.****************/Tutorials/ALE/IDOCToXML/IDOCToXML.htm

Then thru ABAP program, files can be picked and can be sent to required FTP server.

I tried following the article, but I am having issues testing the XML Port.  I've handed this over to a system admin to figure this out.  I will update this thread in a few days.

use XML File port option , this works for you.
