hi , experts -- can anyone plz explain in details about storage bin structure - how it's formed with the automatic creation - filled with the necessary tabs

Hi arghya,

The purpose of storage bin structure is to define a skeleton for the bin numbering in a storage type and to generate the bin master data through batch input sessions. Please find below step by step procedure.

Step 1: First the template for bin numbering has to be drafted. The template must have 10 characters which includes the blank spaces (if any). The template should be defined with the combinations of alphabets A, C and N; where A stands for alphabetic, C stand for common character (or constant) and N stands for the numeric. In this combination, the alphabetic character A may be defined only once.

Then the structure comes in place. The structure defines how the system should increment the bin numbers for automatic generation of bins. Structures are defined with different letters (generally A, B, C, etc…). Each letter means that the digits/alpha characters are increased independently to other letter in the structure.

For example if you planned to create bin numbers with the co-ordinates of row, stack and level (Ex: A1-01-01), where there are 4 rows (2 sides per row), 10 stacks and 10 levels and the bins need to be created with the increment of 1, then

            The template should be ANCNNCNNCC

            The structure should be AB CC DD

            The start value: A1-01-01

            The end value: D2-10-10

            The increment: 11-01-01

Hence the bins would be created as A1-01-01, A1-01-02 ....A1-01-10, A1-02-01 ….A1-10-10, A2-01-01 ....A2-10-10, B1-01-01….D2-10-10

Step 2: Please input at least storage section and bin type in the detail view of the sequence. This data is must to create the bins in back end.

Step 3: Select the sequence and select Environment à Create Bins.

            A screen with simulated bin report comes up. Validate the bins proposals.

Step 4: Choose Create Online to create the bins immediately or choose Create by batch input to create the bin at a later time.

Hi,

If you do the F1 search help on each of the input fields you would get more information on them and, it is very well explained there.

You can copy the first entry and put your warehouse and storage type. Then click on "Create storage bins online" thereafter in the Extras - create storage bins.

At the bottom you would get the message " xxx storage bins created successfully". you can check them individually using LS03N.
