JSPM - UnknownHostException... Hostname is false.. from where get JSPM the Hostname?

Hi there,

i just wanna  update some Packages in my Portal over JSPM.. when i try to start JSPM i get the error:

pr 4, 2013 4:37:06 PM [Error]: java.net.UnknownHostException: XXXX_install: XXXX_install

Apr 4, 2013 4:37:06 PM [Error]: Could not create JStartup cluster controller with host XXXX_install and port 3901.

Apr 4, 2013 4:37:06 PM [Error]: Cannot get control over cluster SID.

Apr 4, 2013 4:37:06 PM [Error]: Cannot initialize application data.

---

My Hostname ist not XXXX_install

My Hostname is XXXX

from where gets the JSPM this false Hostname? Where is this stored?

Hi Bjoern,

Please validate the profiles, as JSPM detects the hostname and other information from the profiles only.Make sure you have no backup profiles or old profiles in the SYS/profile directory.Also I m not sure about your SAP release version.

The Software Update Manager replaces the Java Support Package Manager

for the maintenance of SAP systems based on SAP NetWeaver 7.1 or higher.

Be aware that JSPM is no longer supported in SAP NetWeaver 7.1 and

higher releases (applies to all SP Stacks).

JSPM is not supported...please use the SUM tool.Hope this information helps.

Thanks.. We are on 7.01 so i think JSPM is OK to use.

I found some old profiles.. will delete them.. hope it works

Hi ,

Please check you profile what is hostname define there ,also you can check command hostname and see the output for same.

also check

sap note  780670.

hello

it is Linux

command: Hostname brings the correct hostname

the HOSTS file is also OK

in all my profiles is maintained the correct hostname

?!

ABAP works fine and now hostname Problems...

Please check whether you have maintained the hostname of database entry in host file .
