How to run Sybase Central on Windows Server 2008

Former Member

Hello!

Please help me solve the problem.

I installed the system erp6.0 ehp6 Sybase ASE 15.7.0.042 on Windows Server 2008 x64

Now I want to look at the state of the database, perform a backup.

In the tr. DBACOCKPIT, I can't do that - there is a dump:

Category               ABAP Programming Error
Runtime Errors         OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED
Except.                CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL
ABAP Program           CX_DBA_ROOT===================CP
Application Component  BC-DB-DB6
Date and Time          04.04.2013 16:38:35

Short text
     Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.

What happened?
     Error in the ABAP Application Program

     The current ABAP program "CX_DBA_ROOT===================CP" had to be
      terminated because it has
     come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.

Error analysis
     An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
     The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL', was not
      caught in
     procedure "HANDLE_EXCEPTION" "(METHOD)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING
      clause.
     Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
     exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
     The reason for the exception is:
     You attempted to use a 'NULL' object reference (points to 'nothing')
     access a component (variable: "NAV_REF->MSGWINDOW").

I need to install the necessary notes.

But before that I need to make a backup and expand the tablespace.

I learned that there is a tool to connect to the database - Sybase Central

But I don't know how to run it?

Please tell me where this tool?

In the directory: Sybase/SLM/Shared/Sybase Central 6.0.0/win64 i have only 2 files:

scjview.000

scjview

How can i run Sybase Central?

Hi Fomin,

Login as Administrator on the server and the double the file below

..Sybase/SLM/Shared/Sybase Central 6.0.0/win64/scjview

You will get the a pop window asking for dbhost and port. once you get connected you can see the screen similar to MSSQL Enterprise manager.

if I click, it opens in Notepad:

VM_ARGUMENTS=-Disql.repositoryDirectory=D:\sybase\ERD\DBISQL\bin

Hi Fomin,

Please search for file scjview.exe on your system. It has to be executable file and not a notepad file.

hello!

I downloaded and installed the program Sybase Control Center 3.2.3

But again, I got confused...

Where should I install the program - on the server or on my computer?

I installed on server and installed on my PC.

But again, I don't understand where is the file scjview.exe?

How do I launch Sybase Control Center 3.2.3?

Hi, please read: http://scn.sap.com/thread/3216440 , you can find details for connection.

You can install in you PC or Server, and make a server connection.

I am searching Sybase Control Center at marketplace, but I do not found. I search here: SWDC - Browse our download catalog - Sybase Products, but show me: No Data available.

I open a note with SAP support.

Best regards.
