Ash,

SXI_MONITOR directly leads to the message monitoring for the IS, which is one part of the SXMB_MONI transaction. In addition SXMB_MONI contains some functions such as monitoring for Bridging, Archived Messages, Job overview, persistance layer analysis.

Also SXMB_MONI is area menu which will contain all multiple transactions pertaining to monitoring.SXI_MONITOR directly executes the monitoring report.

HI,

the transaction SXMB_MONI is for Integration Engine – Monitoring (SXMB_MONI) and the system displays the screen Integration Engine: Monitoring

With this we can

Monitor the processing of XML messages and message packages

Check message throughput

Execute error and status tracking

And also

If the user has the role of authorization

Monitoring is used to monitor the processing of XML messages, as well as to track message errors and statutes. Message throughput can also be monitored.

Monitoring initially helps the system administrator to monitor their system and at the same time it is used by the application as a processing monitor.

Monitoring is protected by the authorization objects S_XMB_DSP and S_XMB_AUTH. Displaying the contents of the messages is individually controlled. The system default only enables XML messages in the current client to be displayed, unless the user has administrator status ( S_XMB_ADM).

The authorizations can be derivations of the roll SAP_XI_MONITOR

With SXI_MONITOR you can have only monitor for the processed XML Messages.

The exact need is we can have different authorisations to users . we can assign only SXI_MONITOR or if we want to give authorisation to view above all then give the TA SXMB_MONITOR.

Hi Ash,

SXI_MONITOR leads to the message monitoring for the IS, which is one part of the SXMB_MONI transaction. SXMB_MONI in addition contains some functions such as monitoring for Bridging, Archived Messages, Job overview, persistance layer analysis, status monitor for sync/async comm. So you can do these extra things with SXMB_MONI which you cant do by SXI_MONITOR eg you can see your archived msgs through SXMB_MONI but you cant see your archived XML msgs through SXI_MONITOR.

Sorry but that is not quite right.

SXI_MONITOR lets you jump directly into the XML monitoring of the integration engine while SXMB_MONI brings you to the IE monitoring screen where you can also choose to go through your archived messages or run some tests.

The only adapter where u could say they are monitored from there are the idoc and http adapter as they reside on the Abap Stack of the WebAS and not on the Java side as all the other ons.

If you want to monitor your messages in the Adapter it is the best to use the runtime workbench for that.

So you can say that both transactions serve the same purpose. SXI_MONITOR might save you one click with your mouse

Cheers

Hi Ash,

SXMB_MONI is area menu which will contain all multiple transactions pertaining to monitoring.

SXI_MONITOR directly executes the monitoring report.

SXMB_MONI leads to Integration engine monitoring in general where you have several other monitoring options. whereas SXI_MONITOR leads directly to XI message monitoring.

This is how SAP has provided us.it is as simple as it is.

Ramesh.
