SAP on RHEL6 with ORA10g

Hi all,

We are creating an ECC sandbox (as a reference tool / POC) in our environment and we're using RHEL6 on VMWare.  Our current ECC system we did a DB export from is on Oracle 10.2.0.4

I read note 1496410 and it says at least 11.2.0.3 is required.

Does anyone have experience making ORA10g work on RHEL6?  Is it possible, or do we need to look into getting a license for RHEL5?

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Ben,

You mentioned you did already an export of the current ECC system.

Is this a SAP R3load based export ?
Then you can already import that export in the new system installed with Oracle 11.2.0.3 software.

This is a standard heterogenous copy scenario and you upgrade the database just by exporting from 10.2 and importing into 11.2.0.3

There is no need at all to handle ORA10g on RHEL6.

Hi Luis,

Yes we ended up doing an R3Load export of 11.2.0.3 and then importing it on RHEL 6.

Thanks!

Hi Ben Daniels,

It is very much possible to install oracle 11.2.0.3 on RHEL 6.

Just take care of all the pre-requisites mentioned in SAP note 1496410.

Hi Deepak,  thanks for the note.  Do you know if it's possible to install 10.2.0.4 on RHEL 6?

Hi Ben,

Refer Link http://www.oracle.com/openworld/lad-en/session-schedule/con8566-mueller-ok-1887417.pdf

Page 26.

It says RHEL 6 is supported for Oracle  11.2.0.3 minimum.

Hope this helps.
