When verifying the installation of SM4.0, the SP9 list output lists BI CONT 7.03 as part of the stack. In the release Strategy note for SolMan, it lists BI CONT 7.03 as optional Note 394616 - Release Strategy.

What is this used for if it is installed? What scenario? Why would you want to do this? Store historical information on tickets? I guarantee points.

Hi,
The BI content is for Reporting.
This will be the scenario:
The Solution Manager collects the EWA data or Business Process Data, and its being sent to BI Content on SAP Netweaver. Then which can further can be used to have BI Queries. Its the same old story, used for reporting.
It can even be Additional Service Data aswell.
Hope this solves all your queries, feel free to revert back.

Honestly - I did never understand that point.
A BI system has (depending on the database used) a totally different database parametrization compared to an OLTP based system. How to configure SolMan - as OLAP engine or as OLTP engine - if parameter recommendations are ambiguous?
The idea behind that is, that, if you have SP<something>, you can follow the IMG to activate the content and have everything in one system, the data itself and the reports.
You can activate the same content in a BI system too, if you're already on the same content (7.03) but configuration of that must be done manually then and not "nicely driven by IMG".
