there is num of reason behind it, please check first you database is up or not ,if it is up then check the connectivity of R3 and DB using R3trans -d.
check the service sap<sid>_nr is running or not.
after that try to start the sap system ,if it is still showing stopped than please post dev_disp,dev-ms and dev_w0 trace.

please check the logs and database status. Check the SAP services whether running or not. please paste the logs for more analysis.
