Hi All,
We have our EP Server running on Solaris 10 with Oracle DB. Now we wanted to migrate this EP Server from Old HW to New HW. We have done migration of ECC and Other ABAP Server(DB Restore method) in past but we are not sure on how to migrate EP Server as unlike ABAP stack, Java Stack has OS level files which needs to be migrated.
Please let us know on the steps that are required to migrate EP Server.
Thanks,
Pradeep
Hello
If there is no change in the hostname and the SID then you can easily copy the files from the source to the target system.
In addition to that you will also need to copy the files from the /usr/sap/SID to the new server.
You can do rsync for the all the SAP and Oracle file systems between source and traget system.
If the size of the database is not that big then you can also copy the database files (datafiles, control files, redologs and pfile/spfile) to the new server.
I have done this numerous times and works fine without any problems.
The only additional thing required is to install a new license as the hardware key will be changed.
Cheers
RB

Hi Pradeep,
Please perform the migration using system copy method... I mean using SAPINST....
This will ensure that all the required files will also be copied....
PLEASE REFER THE SYSTEM COPY GUIDE FOR MORE INFORMATION
Finally, you can copy the global directory from the source system to target..
I believe nothing else is required.
Thanks and Regards,
Vimal
