Hi,
can some tell me how the development changes are moved to production. What happens at each of the servers. When the changes are moved from quality to production.
Thanks
Hemant
Hi,
Whenever some developments are made, first place they are all carried out in the development server where the abapers get involved doing what is required. If it is a configuration change or new configuration need to be made, that handled as an enhancement. In anycase, once the new developments are done, the changes are moved to quality for testing. Here the functional consultants check if the developments are in line with the user requirement. Found good, the user is asked to test if it is ok for him. If he suggest that there is some change to be made again they are carried out in development and the process repeats till the time it matches the user requirements. However as a reference we have a functional specification document approved by the user for the developments he has agreed on.
Once everything is ok, the changes are moved from development to production not from quality to production. Quality is only to test the development changes.
Finally the user confirms that the developments are ok in production and the issue gets closed.
Hope it helps. Please reward if helpful.
Thanks & Regards
Sadhu Kishore

Hi Hemanth,
As you know the normal system landscape in SAP would consist of Development, Quality and production servers.
Any changed to ne done are usually carried in Development server and what ever changes you make you will get a Request no. you need to make note of thi srequest no and then use SE10 and transport the request and inform the basis team with details of request no and the type of change etc, also inform the concerned authorised person from the customer side. Then the authorised person will ask basis to move the request from development to Quality.
You will then check the changes in Quality server inform the user about the same with screen shots and then thr authorised persons move the changes to Production server.
Where the new changes are now available. this is the usual process.
