Installing SRM-MDM CATALOG 7.01

Hello,

My end goal is to install SRM-MDM CATALOG 7.01 for a SRM 7.01 system. I have completed the installation of the SRM 7.01 system

I am confused on the process for installing SRM-MDM CATALOG 7.01

1. Is MDM 7.1 a prerequisite for SRM-MDM CATALOG 7.01?
2. According to the installation guide for MDM 7.1 it appears the installation is the creation of a database and does not follow the traditional SAP process of install NetWeaver, install a database , install the application. Is this true?
