ms sql2005 error on windows2003 for sap ecc6.0 ides

Hi

  i want to install mssql2005 on windows2003 , when i execute the sql4sap.vbs , it was running ,after some when the service pack installation time , it was hangs

so what is the cause for this issue, i updated windows properly, but same script works properly when install another sap system, please help me gurs

Hi, Vreddy

sql4sap.vbs is used to install the SQL SERVER instance or SQL SERVER client tool or SNAC.

Has the SQL SERVER instance been installed already? 

If the instance installation is hanging, could you go to  %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\ can check whether the log is still being updated?

If service package installation is hanging, first of all, please read following part of note 985137

:

SAP recommends that you back up all files on the server every time you
change the configuration (Windows Service Pack, SQL Server Service Pack,
SAP upgrade). The easiest way to backup is to boot the server from a
second Windows that is installed in parallel. You should therefore
proceed as follows:

1.  Stop the SAP systems and the SQL Server.
2.  Back up Windows and the database, if no current backup exists.

3.  Install the Service Pack
    The installation program logs all errors in the file SQLSP.LOG in
    the Windows directory.

4.  Execute the Windows backup.

Hi,

Sometimes, it can also due to corrupted data while transfer of dumps from one system to another.

Please check the following.

1. Try to copy the files once again and see whether it works.

2. Have you  disabled the firewall?

3.Please  switch off the UAC ( Follow the below link and check it)

Kindly check these and revert back if none is working.

Please attach the screenshot of the error as well as log which can be found in the error screenshot itself?

  Can you please update the error message as well as the error screenshot  you are getting while trying to install MS Sql server 2005?

Thanks alot vimalan, any what scren shot i have to be attach, the thing when i run sql4sap.vbs script file it install some components of mssql, but i did not get instlation complete screen ..

please let me know . what log files and what screen shot i have to attach here...

Hi Veer,

It could be some issue with Windows OS. Could you restart your server and then apply the MSSQL patch.
