Hello Experts,

When I log in to Portal http://host:5XX01/irj with a functional user I get the following message

I have looked in to the corresponding default trace about this specific exception which gives the followoing details.

The time stamp is different , because the defaut trace is correspondign to a same exception at a a different time.

Intereseting fact the same user works on some system and not on other systems, I have tried reinstalling my internet explorer and still no help.

Experts please help.

Exception ID:03:15_25/03/13_0014_118143350

What versions of components on other systems running successfully?

Former Member

Hello Roman,

BW ABAP is 701

BI_CONT                        706

PI_BASIS                       701

SAP_ABA                        701

SAP_BASIS                      701

SAP_BW                         701

ST-A/PI                        01Q_700

ST-PI                          2008_1_700

Agains the issue is the same user works ok in some of the systems and gives error in another systems.

Yes we did try installing -reinstalling Internet explorer.

I checked the PAM and it says NW 7.0 Supports IE 10

Jacob

You provide info about ABAP packages installed. Please provide info about java stack on another system where no issues exists. Or explain in detail what do you mean under 'other system'.

Hello Romain,

When I mean other systems

the url http://host:5xx00/irj  , i get portal runtime error from my laptop.

Form other systems (other laptops)using same browser as mine , i do not get any errors.

Kind Regards,

Jacob

In summary: you try to access the same url http://host:5xx00/irj from several laptops with the same username esstest. But on your laptop you get error and from other laptops all seems to be ok. In all cases you use the same browser with the same version. Am I right? If yes what browser you use and specify its version.

The Browser I use is IE 10 and  additional point to your summary is that We get Portal runtime for same user/browser combination for others (lets say a number 5 of our laptops ) . Customer is a large organization So I dint have oppurnity to take a statistical analysis.

In a nut shell for some of them , it is ok and some of them it is not which makes it very difficult  to corner the issue. and I do not want   tell them it is a client/workstatn issue and not technical one.

Kind Regards,

Jacob

It is clear from the initial message itself that the issue is with one BI portal when being accessed from different machines with same user.

There is no point in checking the components installed on the system when the URL works fine from another work station or laptop.

Hello Regan,

Thanks for the clarification.

Is it one of  those un answered questions I suppose

Hello

If I were you, I would also try to login to the portal with a different user from the machine where the issue occurred with the user esstest.

Then I will try to login to the same portal from another system with the same user (not user esstest).

If the issue is appearing only with the first system then it is obvious that the problem is with the machine where the URL is accessed.

Also check for any incorrect entries for this URL maintained in the hosts file of the laptops.

Additionally I can see there is a difference in the URL being used (initial message and the previous reply from you)

http://host:5xx00/irj

http://host:5xx01/irj

I very well know their differences and usage. But have checked whether it appears with both of them ? Mind the https

If all the settings are fine then you will have to seek the SAP support for a solution.

Most probably they will come back with the initial note number I suggested if you are not on the patch level mentioned in it.

Note 915361 - Error in service call of portal component: LauncherComponent

Most of the suggestions from me are based on assumptions (can be right and can be wrong) and if by any chance if you head to SAP support and for the goodwill of the community please let us know the solution.

Have a nice day.

Cheers

Thanks for the clarification. Yes it is possible to be related to browser issues. But according to stack trace you can see that errors occurred during service call and this less likely to be related to browser issue. Therefore I ask for additional information.

I also want to clarify this for myself.

You have BI ABAP 7.0 with EhP1 but your BI Java at 7.0 level without EhP1. Not sure that this is good configuration. From SAP Note 1163789:

"Patches can only be applied compatibly within one release, Netweaver BI 7.0 requires different Patches than Netweaver BI 7.1 or 7.2; the same is true for Enhancement Packages."

I don't know is this has relation to your issue but you need to pay attention to this also.

Again from your stack trace you have problems during request handling in BIRuntimeService service which leads to call displayExceptionPage (more likely it is catched exception in your BI) and only after you have NullPointerException in ExceptionHelper.doRenderContent. This also can point to inconsistency between your BI ABAP and BI Java. It's my opinion only. On the other hand these errors can relate to browser incompatibility or insufficient rights (as indicated by tests you performed). IMHO these errors (from stack trace) are related (more likely) to server part not browser. I haven't access to your system to do more investigations. Anyway, if you find answer please provide it here.

Kind regards

Hello Roman,

Yes . I couldnt agree more. We are not able to corner the issue. As you pointed correctly.

(1) It may due to JAVA and ABAP Compatibility ,We have updated ABAP to 701 EHP10 which is an sp equivalent for ABAP 7.0 SPP25

(2)As you said it may be a browser compatibility issue.

Good News is

When we implemented SAP Note :1487329 , It started working and there is no runtime errors .

I dont know if this is right solution. But I have to say it worked , there is no other activity carried in our system apart from this Note Implementation.

I am closing the thread.

Kind Regards,

Jacob

Did any other users able to access http://host:5XX01/irj ?  if so we can rule out as authorizations issue with the user.

Hello Jacob,

Try to reset IE cache, cookies and then try. Is it only for your user id? are you able to login with others user id in your laptop ?

Hello Jacob,

did you compare the roles of the users? try to access the portal and then check the default trace file which will give you some idea about the error.

Thanks,

Ranjith

Hi Jacob,

Please confirm from when you are facing this issue.

Did you perform any kernel upgrade or any other activities or all of sudden you are facing this issue?

I would suggest you to login to visual administrator and check whether all the services are activated.. If not, try to activate it manually and check.

Thanks and Regards,

Vimal
