Hello,

I have a requirement to change the City inputfield in the standard portuguese ess address application (i.e. ess_ptaddr) to NOT mandatory. I have changed the state to normal and this has changed it visually (i.e. no required star (*)) but when i proceed the validation is still occurring and get a message to enter a value for "City".

Is there somewhere else i need to make a change? I have not been able to find any validation code in the Web dynpro application.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Do you know what table in R/3? I checked table T588 but was not sure what module pool etc to check for portugal.

Go to transaction SM31 and check table/view V_T588MFPROPC. That should be the one.

This validation is done in the R/3 backend. There is a database table there where you can specify which fields are mandatory.
