In general what is the time period of the XI projects ?

Hi All

Can any one help me what is the time period of the XI Projects (In general)?

In realtime how the time is managed/Utilized on resources ?

How the work estimations will be done ? Based on What ?

Hi Rakesh,

Usually normall scenarios it will be done 3 days..If the Interface is complex 5 days,If the interface is very complex more than 5 days also.

Even there are some situations client want interface very urgent may be even one day itself.

If one resource allocated to one interface he has to involve that interface only.

Some times availability of the resouces and time few people will do Design and the other hand some people will do configuration this is how the work will be distributed among the resource depends on the deliverables in the project.

I can say this is totally depends on the project requirements...There is no rule that we have to give only 2 days for one interface something like that.

<i>what is the time period of the XI Projects (In general)?</i> - it depends on how many scenarios are going to be in that XI project which in turn depend on how many systems are going to be integrated like SAP R/3, SCM, BW etc....so a XI prj which has 40 scenarios can be developed in 4 months to 6 months depending on the complexity of scenarios.

simple scenario - 2 to 3 days

complex scenario -7 to 8 days

simple scenario means straight-forward mapping in graphical mapping

complex scenario will have BPM or msg mapping by JAVA mapping or XSLT mapping

Hi Rakesh,

As above mentioned it is fully depends up on project size,

in my case i have done a project which has Idoc scenarios in 30 working days

for about 15 interfaces.

but it again depends up on complexity and availability of clear requirements and resources..

we can't conclude at one perticuler time frame in general..

This is based on the projects but in general (In addition to above)

As follows

In general there are ‘3’ kinds of interfaces

1) Easy --- 2 days (Which will include dev+ document)

2) Medium -

---

5 days “ “

3) Complex -

---

10 to 12 days (complex BPMs + Mappings+ document)

Project full time will purely depends on the Business (Requirement)

+ No.systems+ No.scenarios

But in general 4months to 6 months for normal projects

We had a project duration of 6 months. CRM inetgration with AS400 appl. It is based on the complexity. Normaly it wud stand from 4-7 months of implementation

Mostly the time wud be utilized for testing. Mapping and dev phase would be completed much on time and it is in the unit testing phase the resource will be utilized to the max.

Work estimation will be done based on the resource avaiability and based on thier expertise. It also depends on the complexity of the interface which can be got during the inital analysis phase.

In general XI implementation will take not less than 6 months..In realtime it depends upon the business & the systems which they are using ..

The type of system which they are going Integrate..i.e LANDSCAPE is important..

Work estimations is based on the resources...

for Eg ...For SAP XI..

1 Technology consultant (XI)- SAP BASIS

2 Develoment consultant (XI) along with 1 ABAPER & 1 JAVA guy..

Min Req from SAP side ....this is example...

If we have more resources the work spam time will be less...
