Hi, I want to migrate a NW system (the current system is 7 EHP1) is actually installed on Windows 2003 and SQL Server 2003
I want to move it to new hardware with sql server 2008 and windows 2008
Which is the right order to make the migration?
Install Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server on the new hardware and make an homogenous copy and after upgrade windows?
Or
Upgrade windows to 2008 version and make the homogenous copy?
thanks in advance
Install the new server with the target OS/DB and make a homogeneous system copy from the old system. In-place upgrade of Windows is only partly supported by SAP. There is no problem importing a SQL Server 2005 backup to SQL Server 2008.

Hi Juan,
Another alternative to what Juan has explained.
1) Take database export of source system
2) Install target system using system copy option.
3) Import the data into target system
4) Perform post import activities.
