MAX DB data restore on newly installed system

Hi

We have one PRD system with MAX DB ,we want to restore the complete data backup from PRD to DEV system which one installed newly for testing purpose.

I tried to restore but it is failing.

Can you please share how to do restore with another system data.

I already read those two,but my scenarion is to restore the remote system data where backup and log backup history is not available.

Hi Deepak

In DBGUi i clicked on restore option and choosen the option restore from media,when i browse the media location is not dispalying complete data & log backup files copied from remote system(from which i have taken the backup)

Hi Mahipal,

You can define a new media for restoration and define the path where backup files located.

Also note you need to initialize your database while recovering. So select appropriate action.

Hi Mahipal,

In DBMgui when you select option for recovery in the pop-window just look for a checkbox written with Initialize Database.

You need to select that check box.

When i check my Complete data backup file from check option it giving below error

24994 runtime environment error:1060 Kernel start failed

Hi Mahipal,

Have you restored your database successfully. If yes, Make the database online and then perform any checks.

one of my friend tried to restore it is given error and database went to admin state,when click on online but giving below error

24988 SQL Error:9046 message not avialable

Hi Mahipal,

The database should be in the ADMIN operational state to restore.

Follow below steps:

  1. 1. Select the database in the explorer tree.
  2. 2. In the context menu of the database, choose Administration Tasks Recovery...
  3. 3. If necessary, transfer the database to the ADMIN operational state.
  4. Select the recovery type
  5. Select Initialize Database before recovery check box
  6. Select backup template
  7. Start recovery
