Using BRTools, cannot see old recovery files in tool.

Hi Guys,

I use BRTools to take backup of my Database. Off late I have been noticing that old recovery files do not get listed on the tool when I try restore my DB using the BRTools. There seems to be a range between which it picks the files. I can see the files and directories in the physical backup location.

Can somebody help me to figure this configuration out and how to change it?

Thanks

Milton

Hi Deepak,

I created a backup in february. I can see the entries in the back<SID>.log. However, when I try to use BRRecover, (menu 121) it only lists backups taken in March

BR0699I Reading log file /oracle/C73/sapbackup/backC73.log ...

BR0280I BRRECOVER time stamp: 2013-03-20 09.42.30

I can see the entries for my older backups in the back<SID>.log file

Is there anyway to make the brtool list those backups.

Hi Milton,

Do you see a ..... at the bottom of the list. Dotted option implies scroll down facilitiy available. Else you may update brtools and check.

As per SAP link it should provide you an option to scroll to all the logs available in backSID.log file.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/67/28503ede925441e10000000a114084/content.htm

Hope this helps,

Hi Milton,

Also check paramter show_period = <days> in initSID.sap.

Changing this value can help you in getting desired results.

Hi Deepak,

Unfortunately that didn't help much. i changed the show_period in both locations, the backup location and the oracle home. Didn't work.

OK, I figured the way to solve this.

In the Input Menu 34 that comes when we choose to 'Restore of Individdual Backup Files', you can change the value for Recovery interval to the desired value

BR0657I Input menu 34 - please enter/check input values
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BRRECOVER options for restore and recovery

1 * Recovery type (type) ............. [restore]
2 - BRRECOVER profile (profile) ...... [initC73.sap]
3 ~ BACKINT/Mount profile (parfile) .. []
4 - Database user/password (user) .... [/]
5 - Recovery interval (interval) ..... [120]
6 - Confirmation mode (confirm) ...... [yes]
7 - Scrolling line count (scroll) .... [20]
8 - Message language (language) ...... [E]
9 - BRRECOVER command line (command) . [-p initC73.sap -t restore -i 120 -s 20 -l E]

This solves the issue.

Hi Milton,

The value for Recovery interval (interval) ..... [120] is picked from show_period only.

Anyways good to know that your problem is resolved now.

You may close this thread.
