Former Member

Hello All,

When i check SAPMMC i can see that msg_server.exe has started but disp+work.exe(dispacher) shows status as stopped.

The following are the series of events that the status screen of sapmmc for disp+work.exe displays:-

Can someone please tell me if this problem can be resolved by

just reinstalling SAP ABAP 2004s trial edition?

(i dont mind if i loose all data)

Also if someone can tell me the default password to connect to max db using dbmgui.

(control:control, admin:admin, dba:dba.. does not work)

Here is my DB info:-

Database name: NSP

Version: 7.6.00.32

DBMGUI ver: Database manager 7.6 (7.6.00.25)

Thanks for the replies guys!!!!

@Eric Brunelle:-

Tired it (and a dozen others too) they dont work for me. Dont know why

@pulla:-

Can you please tell me where the archive directory is located?

I used windows search with the word "Archive" and found the following

File Name: KnlMsgArchive Path: X:\sapdb\data\wrk\.M760032 Size: 8KB

File Name: KnlMsgArchive Path: X:\sapdb\data\wrk\NSP Sixe: 100KB

Thanks all, for the support and for taking the time to help a fellow ABAPER...

Hello Faheem,

What was the action that you executed 'before' you shutdown SAP?

To me it seems to be a memory issue.

      • ERROR => ztta/cua_area is 180000. [sapinit.c 963]

      • ERROR => ztta/cua_area adjusted to 250000. [sapinit.c 967]

Did you execute any SAP parameter changes related to memory.

And restarted the SAP instance for the parameter to take effect?

Please revert back to old parameter values incase you have done so.

Regards,

Ammey Kesarkar

Thanks for the reply

@Ammey:-

No i have not made any parameter changes to memory, infact i dont even know how to. I think the last time i shutdown my PC without turning off sap first.

Can you please tell me how to revert to original(default) values?

@Eric Brunelle:-

I have the 2004s ABAP trial edition, available at this site. I dont think this requires the downloader to become a customer...

Ok Faheem, sorry for my previous posting.

check how much RAM is configured, Maybe a memory chip has failed.

check how much virtual memory you have. perhaps you lost this also.

Former Member
0 Kudos

Thanks for the reply Eric.

I think my RAM is okay,

My Computer displays 1.0GB RAM

Virtual memory is also correct (set to 1533MB)

I read somewhere that this problem could also be due to

the log file(log file becomes full).

Can someone please tell me if that the problem?

Here is my HDD and log info

SAP installed on --> X: size 22.9GB

Log path --> X:\sapdb\NSP\log

Log size --> 204,800KB (200MB)

Former Member
0 Kudos

how big are your pages files / to which size they may grow?

I would recommend a minimum size of at least 5 GB in this configuration.

virtual memory set to 1533 MB: how do you set VM???

regards

Peter

go at www.sapdb.org and download program DBMGUI. you will see if your logs are full and be able to re-act using this great GUI-based tool.

Thanks for all the help and support guys!!

@Peter:-

GO TO: system properties>Advanced>Under performance click settings>Advanced>Virtual Memory Click change

@Eric:-

I have downloaded DBMGUI.

I am not able to connect to the database as it asks for username and password.

when i installed ABAP it only asked for a master password but no user name.

To log into SAP ABAP

my user name is bcuser

password is minisap

database name is nsp

Can someone please tell me if there is a default username?

I tried control-control, admin-admin, dba-dba... etc nothing works. All i get is the following error

"-2 wrong username and password combination"

for DBMGUI, use:

username: control

password: control

good luck.

1.5 GB pagefile is the current pagefile size.

It depends on the settings below (change), if this is the maximum pagefile size or not.

I would recommend to use (System manage size).

1.5 GB may be much to low.

But it worked perfectly all this time...

Also check you service file whether you have the sapms<SID> enroll. Second if you want to revert back the instance profile setting, you can do it at OS level,

'/usr/sap/<SID>/sys/profile/<instance Profile> -> open with notepad and you can see old and new values.

Good luck

Hello Yuva,

There were two profiles, i tried them both using sapstartsvr.exe

Both didnt work..

have a look into dev_w0 or dev_w1.

dev_disp already showed you:

      • ERROR => W0 (pid 2988) died [dpxxdisp.c 14235]

so the reason could be found in the trace files of the work processes.

your disp+work process crashed badly. I would update your SAP kernel to see if this helps.

So, follow Peter's recommendation to find out why disp+work crashed.

Thanks for the replies.

Peter, I'm not sure what you mean. I'm new to this.

Can you please tell me exactly what i should do?

If i have to upgrade/patch my kernel, can you please tell me how?
