SAP LiveCache OneDB Management

Hi experts,

We have installed an SAP SCM 7.0 Ehp2 system with APO OneDB (MaxDB).

Physical memory of this system is about 36 Go and Data cache size is 12 Go.

We have applied all recommendations resulting from Dbanalyzer.

Furthermore, we applied OSS Note 1567117 recommendations .

Standards jobs /SAPAPO/OM_DELETE_OLD_SIMSESS & /SAPAPO/OM_REORG_DAILY are scheduled.

For now, our integrator is working to initialize this solution (Dev environement).

It seems that, after one day of working, we had to stop/start SAP in order to release Data Cache Usage (100%).

After that, it seems that Data Cache Usage grows too faster.

For now, Entire Data Cache usage : 5 152 000 KB :

  • History/Undo : 0
  • OMS Data : 0
  • SQL Data : 5 139 000

I read that normally, SQL Data is about 2 or 3 % of the total data cache size.

In CACHE_OCCUPANCY.csv file (Database Analyzer -> Expert Analysis menu in DB59), we can see SQL_Pages over than 640000 pages whereas Data Cache Size is 1 280 000 pages (SQL Data = 50% of Data Cahce Size).

Is it normal?

Can you explain how SQL Data management works?

Why this Data Cache part of memory isn’t released automatically?

Regards

Thanks

Hi,

it seems that Update All Optimizer Statistics job has an impact on the increase of SQL Data size.

Can you help me?

Hello,

-> What is the version of the database kernel and LCAPPs?

Post output of the command, run it on the database server:

     sdbregview -l

-> Some issues with "UPDATE STATISTICS" fixed in the new releases, see SAP Note No. 1444241.

-> Please review SAP Note No. 1830959 & referenced notes.

-> Did you create the SAP message where this issue was reported?
