Hi,
This is Mahesh. I have a small query to all of the forum users.
I am from J2EE background and I want to shift to SAP. I heard about
SAP-Netweaver having modules XI and Ep etc., I want to know which module will help in changing my career to SAP keeping my previous Java and J2EE exp.
Thanks and Regards.
Mahesh.
Hi, Mahesh,
I am just giving some points regarding how you can use your java knowledge in XI.
XI is a middleware technology and used in integration.
So for integrating heterogeneous systems we use XI.
So when different systems communicate with each other, XI developer has to transform one system's(Source) structure to target system's structure.
This process we refer in XI as "Mapping".
In Mapping sometime we can write java code to do this transformation.
Other use of java, you can do JAVA mapping in that case you can use SAX API.
You can also write JAVA proxy to enable communication between JAVA system to R3(SAP) system.
You can also use java in writing Adapters, Adapters are used to convert one protocol to another.like you can use FIle Adapter at target system to convert message to the file format.
so you can write EJB code to develope adapters.
I hope this information will be useful to you, if you are planning to move to XI based on your JAVA skills.
If you know java, then in XI :
You have to use Java skills in "mapping"
that is in XI we have to map source system to target system.
Bye..Cya.

There are so many openings in EP Knowledge with java/j2ee exp..sure

Hi Mahesh
If your good at Java then EP better because it is having plenty of
openings ,More java knowledge is more useful and less compitation :::)))
As per i know For XI, they will expect ABAP also but in general for XI
ABAP + XI openings are more and java useful here !!!
So upto you what to choosen same time combination is always works well
like ABAP +XI(with java knowledge)
JAVA+ EP
EP+XI
