Dear Experts,

We would like to know, What is the minimum memory requirements for each SAP Work process?

SAP:R3 4.7

SQL2000DB [1.5GB] memory allocatted.

For PHYS_MEMSIZE = 1.5[Profile] memory, maximum how much workprocess allocation can be possible?.

Is there any SAP note says about maintain workprocess against Memory.

Thanks

Thiru

Hello Selvan,

Each dialog work process requires 50 to 60 MB

please have a look at http://scn.sap.com/thread/1855626

Also check snote:

Note 39412 - How many work processes should be configured?

Hi Kishore, Atul,Alen,

[Existing memory]

SQL2000DB [1.5GB] memory allocatted.

  For PHYS_MEMSIZE = 1.5[Instance profile]

Vitual memory : 12GB.

Windows2003/SQL2000 Db

Work process : 28 number.

We ran the following cmd and the resutls as below.

sappfpar check pf=[Instance Profile]

================================================================

Total Nr of shared segments required.....:         41

Shared memory segment size required min..:  638976000 ( 609.4 MB)

Swap space requirements estimated

================================================

Shared memory....................: 1151.6 MB

Processes........................:  216.7 MB

Extended Memory .................: 1431.0 MB

------------------------------------------------

Total, minimum requirement.......: 2801.3 MB

Process local heaps, worst case..: 1901.3 MB

Total, worst case requirement....: 4711.6 MB

In this case[above results] how much minimum Physical [RAM] required for my environement.

Thanks

Thiru.

Hi Thiru,

As per above update 5GB will be sufficient for it.

yup

4 to 6gb ram is well enough to run at your current requirements:

Also an extra tip to ensure smooth running of sap systems:

usally end users accesing sap system complaints even when ram size is prefect:

So in that case have a look at your network bandwidth requirements before moving sap system to live:

As the number of end users increases the bandwidth req also increases calculated by the below formula:

C = X*N*D*0.25

where C = bandwidth in kbps needed for the sapgui,

             x=amount of data per dialog step in kb

             n = Number of active users

             D = Average no of dialog steps per minute per user

.25 =numerical factor(include conversion, some safety factors)

eg:  C= 5*25*3*0.25

         C=93.5 approx 100kbs bandwidth needed for fast response

thanks

Hi Thiru,

  • please let me know your environment.
  • Each work process can consume up to 75 to 150 MB and it may extend based on the values of memory Parameters.

have a look into the following links:
