Dear Tushar,

We are in process of implementing opentex. We have already installed required addon and we can see in SPRO.

Now funcitonal cofiguration yet to start. So I would like to know where can I get configuration document? Mainly our requirement is to enable archive options within R/3 not from portal.

Rajesh

Hi Tushar,

As your company is an SAP Open Text Customer, you shall receive login credentials for Open Text Knowledge center from SAP.

You may use that login to Open Text Knowledge Center to download installation document, installation software for open text.

There is no other source for Open Text.

Hi Tushar,

I am sharing my experience only. You need to first download the installation guide from Open Text KC.

Look out for hardware /software requirements. Download those as well from OT KC.

For installation follow step by step approach as mentioned in the guide.

There is no better help than OT KC.

Hi Tushar,

Request you to provide error message while installing Add-on.

Process of installation is very similar to the other SAP add-on installation.

Hi Tushar,

What you want to configure using Open Text ?

Once you finalize that, you may download relevant configuration document from OT KC. Follow those steps accordingly.

For eg: If you want to implement Document Management using Open Text, download config guide for the same.

Before starting any configuration you need to ensure the following

1) Open Text Server is installed and basic configuration done

2) Identify the scenario which needs to be configured using Open Text

3) Download relevant s/w and guides based on scenario identified.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tushar,

Can we use default SAP content server for Opentext content server ???

No. Technically SAP content Server and OpenTexT Content server is different.

what is the difference between SAP content Server and OT Content Server  ????

There are lot many differences. Firstly is the technology on which these content servers are built. Secondly wide areas of scope Content Server from Open Text covers . SAP Content Server has not be developed beyond release 6.40 while latest version of Open Text Content  Server is 10.0 and beyond.

--->How to Get OT KC id ?? we have SAP S-ID and in our product catelogue

S-user ID will not work. You need to ask SAP account manager to provide you KC ID.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tushar,

SAP DMS Concept and SAP Document access by open text

is same or not ????

and what about License ??

Conceptually SAP DMS and SAP document access by Open Text are same. But functionality wise both are different. We use different types of transactions and perform different set of configurations.

Open Text Support Document access and linking for non-SAP scenarios as well while SAP DMS does not.

For each solution in Open Text a license is involved. Since you are an SAP customer you may check with SAP's account manager about licensing part.

Hope this helps.

Dear Ravi Jha

if you have opentext support id then login via it,

in our case  we have separate login id for Opentext
