Hi,
In production planning we will run stage numbering algorithm to get low level codes before running MRP .
Can we run MRP heuristic in Production planning Run without running low level codes heuristics.
what is the difference when we run with low level codes and with out low level codes
Can anyone explain in detail.
Thanks in Advance,
Madhu
Hi,
Stage numbering heuristics is used to redetermine your BOM hierarchy details and to redetermine where a component appears after the change in your BOM level.
ie if there is a change in one of your BOMs and say one component is in a different level than it used to be, -> in these cases for the planning runs to accommodate the changes it is advised to run this heuristics as a background job. The frequency of the job can depend on your business scenario, it can can be weekly or twice in a month etc if not much changes (in the hierarchy of components) are expected.
It is not a must of run this before every planning run. MRP_001 runs based on your BOM hierarchy, ie FG first, then SFG (next level), then raw materials etc; stage numbering algorithm redetermines this hierarchy.
Hope this clarifies...

If you have common materials at a lower level MRP_001 will throw an error/warning saying that there has been a recursion in planning.
With Stage numbering followed by MRP_001 is such a situation you will see no error/warning messages in you logs.
As mentioned by others, this is based on reading of the BOM hierarchy

Hii Madhusudhan,
MRP heuristic is nothing but planning according to low-level code.
SAP_MRP_001: Product planning (comp. according to low-level code)
SAP_MRP_002: Product planning (plan comp. immediately).
So Low-level planning of the selected products and the components are required.
