Domain installation - clarification

Ive installed a local installation of the above. Now I want to install another system (as above but a domain installation).

Can I use the same DB? Can I use the same SID but with different instance number?

Advise please?

Hi Abu,

As I understand, you have performed a local installation with SID XYZ and now you want to perform another SAP installation keep DB sid as XYZ but on domain.

I will say a big NO on this. As it might create problems in database access with 2 different types of users ( local and domain).

You may install a new SAP instance with different SID on the same server on domain. There should not be any problem if you take care of hardware resources.

Ok, If I create a new system <SID>.

Youre saying create a new DB<SID> as well or can I use MCOD.

Hi Abu,

I am suggesting creation of new SID. Having MCOD setups will lead to problems and also SAP does not support MCOD installations any more.
