filesystem /oracle/DBSID/11203/sap not created during oracle upgrade 11.2.0.3

Hi

As i am doing oracle upgrade on a sandbox system from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3 but facing many issues in that -

According to master guide , last 2 final steps are

1> running preupgrade scripts by changing directory to /oracle/DBSID/11203/sap

2> running DBUA by going to directory Oracle_home_tgt/sap/ora_upgrade/pre_upgrade.

But this directory /oracle/DBSID/11203/sap does not exist at all.

We have created filesystems

/oracle/GSP/112_64 and /oracle/stage/11203

I have downloaded Bundle patch from note-1524205 "11ginstall-11203-039-complete.zip and

placed it filesystem /oracle/stage/11203/database and extracted it in /oracle/stage/11203/database/SAP

Now i am not able to understand where it went wrong.

I referred master guide step wise.

what shuld i do nxt to troubleshoot this.

According to master guide i downloaded Oracle files from SMP that are placed in directory /oracle/stage/11203

from https://service.sap.com/oracle-download -

ORACLE RDBMS 11.2.0.3 AIX 64bit 1 of 8

ORACLE RDBMS 11.2.0.3 AIX 64bit 2 of 8

ORACLE RDBMS 11.2.0.3 AIX 64bit 3 of 8

ORACLE RDBMS 11.2.0.3 AIX 64bit 4 of 8

ORACLE RDBMS 11.2.0.3 AIX 64bit 5 of 8

ORACLE RDBMS 11.2.0.3 AIX 64bit 6 of 8

ORACLE RDBMS 11.2.0.3 AIX 64bit 7 of 8

ORACLE RDBMS 11.2.0.3 AIX 64bit 8 of 8

This directory oracle/DBSID/11203/sap doesnot exist , is it becoz something wrong with MOpatch installations

or wrong files downloaded or is it becoz i have created  file /oracle/GSP/112_64 which shuld be /oracle/GSP/11203

I am not able to understand where it went wrong.Please advice.

Hello

I have downloaded Bundle patch from note-1524205 "11ginstall-11203-039-complete.zip and

placed it filesystem /oracle/stage/11203/database and extracted it in /oracle/stage/11203/database/SAP

These are not Bundle Patches. They are installation scripts for Oracle database on an SAP environment.

Did you start the Oracle installation with the file runInstaller or with RUNINSTALLER ?

Cheers

Hi

Thx all for your responses.

Acc to note 1631931 , i can download bundle patches from http://service.sap.com/oracle-download

Open the platform folder and download the SAP Bundle Patch file

SAP_<release>_<date>_<platform>.zip, the SBP README

README_<date>_<platform>.htm, and the SBP Patch History

BUGSFIXED_<data>_<platform>.htm to your database server.

So do i have to download

SAP_112034_201301_AIX.zip and

SAP_112035_201301_AIX.zip or only SAP_112034_201301_AIX.zip, read me , bugfixed?

Also do i have to place this downloadables in /Oracle/DBSID/ 112_64 and unzip them in the same folder? and to install them i can do it thru MOpatch by above command.

Please advice

Hi Swati,

Could you confirm your Oracle RUNINSTALLER logs that correct Oracle home has been matained during installation of Oracle s/w,

If possible you may repeat the Oracle S/w installation again. Clean the ORacle home folder and start the runInstaller again.

Hello

Download the latest one from SMP and put it in the /oracle/stage/112_03 location and perform these.

chown orasid:dba SAP_112034_201301_AIX.zip

su - orasid

cd /oracle/stage/112_03

setenv ORACLE_BASE /oracle/SID

setenv ORACLE_HOME /oracle/SID/112_64

/bin/sh $ORACLE_HOME/MOPatch/mopatch.sh -v -s SAP_112034_201301_AIX.zip

/oracle/SID/11203/sap directory will get created only after you run this. It will contain ora_dbvault and ora_upgrade sub directories with the upgrade scripts.

Good Luck.

Cheers

Hi Swati,

It looks like a bug in Jan bundle patch. I guess you need to apply bundle patch from March,

Additionally refer SAP  Note 1431797 - Oracle 11.2.0: Troubleshooting the Database Upgrade

Please read Note 1431793 - Oracle 11.2.0: Upgrade Scripts

3. Installing Upgrade Scripts

The upgrade scripts are delivered as SAP-specific generic Oracle database patch (patch 9584028).

  • For Unix/Linux platforms:
    The current version of the upgrade scripts is automatically installed if the current SAP Bundle Patch is installed. No further installation is required.

    To install a newer version of the upgrade scripts -if available-, download the patch from SAP service marketplace and install it:
    https://service.sap.com/swdc
    -> Database Patches
    -> Oracle
    -> Oracle <release>
    -> Database RDBMS
    -> MS Windows platform (32-bit or x64)
    -> p9584028_<release>_Generic.zip

    As the patch is generic, it can be installed on all platforms.

    You can install the patch using mopatch with the following command:
    OS> $ORACLE_HOME/MOPatch/mopatch.sh -s \
        p9584028_<release>_Generic.zip
  • For Windows platforms:
    To install the upgrade scripts patch 9584028 for your target release, download the patch file and run the following commands (see SAP note 1503709):

    OS> unzip p9584028_<release>_Generic.zip
    OS> cd 9584028
    OS> %ORACLE_HOME%/OPatch/opatch apply

    For information how to install a patch with OPatch see note 839182.

Note:

  • SAP-specific database patches are installed in the Oracle Home in subdirectory '<ORACLE_HOME>/sap'.
  • The upgrade scripts are installed in the Oracle Home in directory '<ORACLE_HOME>/sap/ora_upgrade'.

Also during checking prerequisites check , command

- ./runInstaller -executeSysPrereqs

was not successfull, it was showing some refrence data error

So followed note number 1431796

and executed

- ./runInstaller ignoreSysPrereqs

Hi Swati,

The DBUA scripts are located under following path /oracle/DBSID/112_64/sap/ora_upgrade/pre_upgrade

Have you checked under this location.

Hi Deepak

Thx again for your quick response.

Yes i checked this location acc to master guide.

I have created filesystem /oracle/stage/11203 and /oracle/DBsid/112_64 but  sap file system is not created in that. so i cannot goto /oracle/DBSID/112_64/sap/ora_upgrade/pre_upgrade file system to run DBUA.

Is it becoz instead of /oracle/DBsid/112_64 i shuld create /oracle/DBsid/11203 as under staging file system  created as 11203
